2016-S19 Shortening the end play check interval for the nose landing gear actuator screw

assembly
Justification of the recommendation
Due to the landing gear operating principle, the screw assembly forms a critical weakest link in the system. Sufficient lubrication and wear rate are affected by several factors, in relation to which the end play check interval is too long. Moreover, end play measurement requires particular care.
Recommendation
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States require the aircraft manufacturer to review the maintenance requirement so that the end play check interval is significantly shortened and the thread wear rate is taken into account.
