L2022-01 Accident of an air ambulance helicopter in Åland on 12 February 2022

The Safety Investigation Authority, Finland, has decided to initiate an investigation under section 2 of the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011) into the accident that occurred on the island of Fiskö on 12 February 2022. An air ambulance helicopter on a rescue duty skidded into a nearby building after landing.

Air Traffic Controller (retired) Timo Heikkilä is appointed as the Head of the Investigation Team. Helicopter Pilot Jari Hjerppe, Senior Safety Investigator Heikki Harri, Rescue Services Expert Knut Lehtinen and Sea Captain Bengt Malmberg are appointed as members. Chief Air Safety Investigator Janne Kotiranta will serve as the Investigator-in-Charge.
