L2019-06 Accident in Eura involving a student pilot on 8 September 2019

Pursuant to Section 2 of the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011), the Safety Investigation Authority Finland decides to initiate an investigation into an accident that occurred at Eura aerodrome on 8 September 2019. Following a go-around, Kauttua Aviation Club’s ultralight aircraft, type Flight Design CTSW, registration OH-U552, crashed into the woods near the airfield. The student pilot on a solo flight escaped without injuries.

Master of Science (Tech) Olli Borg is appointed as the team leader of the investigation group, accompanied by Airline Pilot Juha-Pekka Keidasto and Doctor of Psychology Sirkku Laapotti as members. Chief Air Safety Investigator Janne Kotiranta is the Investigator-in-Charge.
