L2019-02 Decision to initiate an investigation into a serious incident at the Helsinki airport on 18 January 2019

The Safety Investigation Authority of Finland has decided to initiate an investigation under Section 2 of the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011) into a serious incident that occurred at the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport on 18 January 2019. A Boeing 737 commercial airliner of the Norwegian airline landed on a reserved runway. The second party was a Boeing 737 airliner of the Turkish Airlines company.

Air traffic controller (ret.) Lars Levo has been appointed as the Head of the Investigation Team, and commercial pilot (ret.) Heikki Kasurinen and Jukka Seppänen, Licentiate in Philosophy, as members. Chief Safety Investigator of aviation accidents Kalle Brusi will serve as the Investigator-in-Charge.
