Investigation decision, careening of a commercial aircraft off the runway after landing at Savonlinna airport on 7 Januray 2019

The Safety Investigation Authority, Finland has decided to initiate an investigation under Section 2 of the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011) into an incident that occurred at Savonlinna Airport on 7 January 2019. RAF-AVIA airline's commercial aircraft of the Saab 340B type careened off the runway after landing. There were no personal injuries.

Safety Investigator Timo Naskali has been appointed as the Head of the Investigation Team, and commercial pilots Juha-Pekka Keidasto and Hannu Halonen, and Safety Investigators Tii-Maria Siitonen and Hannu Hänninen have been appointed as members. Chief Safety Investigator of aviation accidents Kalle Brusi will serve as the Investigator-in-Charge.
