C11/2010L Malfunctions of passenger aircrafts' pressurization systems in flights 11 and 22 December 2010

Accident Investigation Board of Finland has decided to investigate a serious incident which occurred during cruise phase of a cargo flight from Osaka to Helsinki on 11 December 2010. The incident involved an Airbus A330 aircraft, registration OH-LTO.

On 17 December 2010 investigator Timo Heikkilä has been appointed as investigator-in-charge and investigators Pertti Kalttonen ja Juha Salo have been appointed as members of the investigation commission. France appointed its accredited representative to participate in the investigation in accordance with Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

A similar malfunction in pressurization system occurred to Airbus A330 aircraft, registration OH-LTS, on a passenger flight from Krabi to Helsinki On 22 December 2010. Accident Investigation Board of Finland has decided to investigate this incident combined with the investigation C11/2010L which is already ongoing.

On 23 December 2010 investigator Risto Timgren has been appointed as an additional member to the investigation commission and Esko Kauppinen from Finnair Plc has been appointed as a technical expert. France appointed its second accredited representative to participate in the investigation in accordance with Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

Accident Investigation Board of Finland has relieved the investigator Juha Salo of his duties as the member of the investigation commission with effect from 10 June 2011. On 21 June 2011 investigator Erja Savela has been appointed as an additional member to the investigation commission.
